We need to realize that many times, praying is just like building a fire. We need wood to build a fire. We need some kindling material to start a fire. No fire can be started without some wood or some kindling.
Now, if this is true when starting a fire, many times , this is true also when praying.

Many times, when praying, what we actually need may just be a simple kindling material like a Gospel passage, or a reflection question, or a spiritual exercise to set us off and enable us to open up our interiority to God.
Or sometimes, there already may be that sincere spirit of humility and gratitude, or faith and hope, or courage and zeal present in our hearts, and all we need perhaps is just one question, or just one simple prayer exercise to help us face ourselves and awaked in us our deep yearning for the Lord.
