Located and based in Singapore, Wellsprings Catholic Books was started on Oct 1993 by Peter & 3 Catholic friends with Fr Hilario Fernandes SJ as our spiritual guide. We had a dream to make Catholic & Christian literature available and affordable to our local communities. What began as a dream grew into a business ….

Fr Hilario Fernandes SJ prepared the ground for us in his usual typical Jesuit approach – “For the Greater Glory of God”. Materials and literatures of all kind with a heavy emphasis on the interior life; especially the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola. Spiritual direction is the order of the day. The marked emphasis on being a congruent person.

On Dec 8 1993 our first retail outlet was at 159 Goldhill Centre, Thomson Road. After 3 years we moved to a larger unit at 201 Goldhill Centre. In 2003, we moved to our present location at 239 Lavender Street Singapore 338783.

Our Bookstand, Books on Wheels at St Mary of the Angels Church

Our strength lies with our ability to source and get any US titles into Singapore within 2 weeks. We are investing continually in the latest technology to aid us in our daily activities. Accessing our suppliers database of 2 million titles on a real time basis, we are able to respond to customers’ queries within minutes. With a weekly US air service, we are able to transport these books into Singapore, turning a request into a reality within 2 weeks.

To bring the game to another level, Wellsprings Online is developed with the purpose of allowing our customers to access our portfolio of 13,000 titles with a fully functional ecommerce capability of e-payment and delivery via Singapore Post worldwide and a courier service provider to Malaysia.

In 2006, St Mary of the Angels invites us to operate a bookstand on weekends to increase the readership of the parishioners. In 2007, St Teresa invites us to operate a bookstore within the Church’s premises.

In time to come, we pray that we may establish a presence in Malaysia.

Our long term goal remains simple – to make books available and affordable. Though we are not big, we aim to serve you with a big & wide range of books, we aim to make Wellsprings the friendliest and warmest place to shop for Catholic contents. In Wellsprings you are interacting not only with a system but also with real people who know most customers by their first names.

May the good Lord bless us all including our friends and customers in this book venture.
